When we compared Cypress Ridge High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Bridgeland High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Cypress Ridge High School’s regular student population is 3,037 with a student-teacher ratio of 12.1 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Bridgeland High School is 3,449 students and a student-teacher ratio of 16.7 students/teacher ratio.
Cypress Ridge High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 83 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 77 in closing performance gaps. It scored 81 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Bridgeland High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 94 in student achievement, 86 in school progress, 100 in closing performance gaps and 96 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Cypress Ridge High School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Bridgeland High School’s four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Cypress Ridge High School. They make up for 60.22% of student population, followed by African Americans (20.38%), Asians (8.56%), Whites or Caucasians (7.61%), Two or More Races (1.98%) and Native Americans (1.02%).
The student population at Bridgeland High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 50.65%, followed by Hispanics (22.44%), African Americans (12.35%), Asians (10.35%), Two or More Races (3.57%) and Native Americans (0.46%).
Based on household incomes, Cypress Ridge High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 77.64% compared to 17.25% at Bridgeland High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Cypress Ridge High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 14.09% of its student population compared to 2.20% at Bridgeland High School.
In addition, Cypress Ridge High School has 13.57% bilingual students, 5.53% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.27% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Bridgeland High School with 1.88% bilingual students, 15.83% gifted and talented students and 6.81% students in the special education program.
Cypress Ridge High School's 252 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.3 years. Bridgeland High School's 206 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 9.7 years.
Of its teaching staff, Cypress Ridge High School has nine teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 31 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 60 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 50 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 82 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 20 beginning teachers. Bridgeland High School has two teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 20 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 64 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 50 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 56 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 16 beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Cypress Ridge High School employs 161 female teachers and 90 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 37 special education teachers are being assisted by 44 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs ten staff members in the school administration department and 25 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Bridgeland High School employs 133 female teachers and 73 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 16 special education teachers are being assisted by 25 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs 11 staff members in the school administration department and 24 more working as school support staff.
