When we compared Cypress Lakes High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Cypress Park High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Cypress Lakes High School’s regular student population is 3,219 with a student-teacher ratio of 15.5 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Cypress Park High School is 2,905 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.8 students/teacher ratio.
Cypress Lakes High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 81 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 76 in closing performance gaps. It scored 81 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Cypress Park High School earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 73 in student achievement, 81 in school progress, 72 in closing performance gaps and 78 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Cypress Lakes High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and with 25% student progress. Cypress Park High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Cypress Lakes High School. They make up for 56.26% of student population, followed by African Americans (26.84%), Whites or Caucasians (7.70%), Asians (6.03%), Two or More Races (2.45%) and Native Americans (0.53%).
At Cypress Park High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 57.76% of student population, followed by African Americans (29.91%), Whites or Caucasians (6.27%), Asians (3.75%), Two or More Races (1.79%) and Native Americans (0.41%).
Based on household incomes, Cypress Lakes High School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 70.80% compared to 69.88% at Cypress Park High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Cypress Lakes High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 12.21% of its student population compared to 10.12% at Cypress Park High School.
Cypress Lakes High School’s bilingual students comprise 11.09%, gifted and talented students, 3.79%, while 10.66% are in the special education program. Cypress Park High School bilingual students comprise 8.61%, gifted and talented students, 3.79%, and 7.88% are in the special education program.
Cypress Lakes High School's 207 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.9 years. Cypress Park High School's 184 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 4.8 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 9.4 years.
Of its teaching staff, Cypress Lakes High School has one teacher only serving the school for over 30 years, has 28 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 64 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 52 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 47 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 15 beginning teachers. Cypress Park High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has 19 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 46 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 49 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 54 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 16 beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Cypress Lakes High School employs 123 female teachers and 84 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 24 special education teachers are being assisted by 34 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs nine staff members in the school administration department and 27 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Cypress Park High School employs 106 female teachers and 77 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 17 special education teachers are being assisted by 25 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs ten staff members in the school administration department and 22 more working as school support staff.
