When we compared Cy-Fair High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Cypress Park High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Cy-Fair High School’s regular student population is 3,287 with a student-teacher ratio of 15.4 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Cypress Park High School is 2,905 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.8 students/teacher ratio.
Cy-Fair High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 90 in student achievement, 85 in school progress and 83 in closing performance gaps. It scored 88 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Cypress Park High School earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 73 in student achievement, 81 in school progress, 72 in closing performance gaps and 78 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Cy-Fair High School and Cypress Park High School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Cy-Fair High School. They make up for 36.26% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (35.56%), African Americans (15.42%), Asians (8.76%), Two or More Races (3.47%) and Native Americans (0.43%).
At Cypress Park High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 57.76% of student population, followed by African Americans (29.91%), Whites or Caucasians (6.27%), Asians (3.75%), Two or More Races (1.79%) and Native Americans (0.41%).
Based on household incomes, the Cy-Fair High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 41.77% compared to 69.88% at Cypress Park High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Cy-Fair High School has 162 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 4.93% of student population. Cypress Park High School has significantly more ELLs at 294 or about 10.12% of student population.
Cy-Fair High School’s bilingual students comprise 4.56%, gifted and talented students, 9.49%, while 8.79% are in the special education program. Cypress Park High School bilingual students comprise 8.61%, gifted and talented students, 3.79%, and 7.88% are in the special education program.
Cy-Fair High School's 213 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 9.3 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12 years. Cypress Park High School's 184 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 4.8 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 9.4 years.
Of its teaching staff, Cy-Fair High School has seven teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 36 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 58 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 57 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 44 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including ten beginning teachers. Cypress Park High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has 19 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 46 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 49 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 54 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 16 beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Cy-Fair High School employs 143 female teachers and 69 male teachers. On the other hand, Cypress Park High School employs 106 female teachers and 77 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 17 special education teachers are being assisted by 25 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs ten staff members in the school administration department and 22 more working as school support staff.
