Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Clear Lake High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Clear Springs High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Clear Lake High School. They make up for 41.05% of student population, followed by Hispanics (34.29%), Asians (11.79%), African Americans (7.40%), Two or More Races (5.07%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
The student population at Clear Springs High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 52.72%, followed by Hispanics (26.58%), Asians (9.02%), African Americans (6.78%), Two or More Races (4.29%) and Native Americans (0.36%).
Based on household incomes, Clear Lake High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 29.22% compared to 16.19% at Clear Springs High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Clear Lake High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 8.57% of its student population compared to 2.70% at Clear Springs High School.
Clear Lake High School’s bilingual students comprise 7.44%, gifted and talented students, 16.94%, while 9.13% are in the special education program. Clear Springs High School bilingual students comprise 2.20%, gifted and talented students, 12.59%, and 9.84% are in the special education program.
