When we compared Clear Brook High School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, with Clear Lake High School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Clear Brook High School’s regular student population is 2,420 with a student-teacher ratio of 17 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Clear Lake High School is 2,485 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.1 students/teacher ratio.
Clear Brook High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 89 in student achievement, 80 in school progress and 82 in closing performance gaps. It scored 87 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Clear Lake High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 91 in student achievement, 83 in school progress, 86 in closing performance gaps and 90 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Clear Lake High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Clear Brook High School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Clear Brook High School. They make up for 38.76% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (26.40%), Asians (19.79%), African Americans (10.58%), Two or More Races (4.21%) and Native Americans (0.12%).
The student population at Clear Lake High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 41.05%, followed by Hispanics (34.29%), Asians (11.79%), African Americans (7.40%), Two or More Races (5.07%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
Based on household incomes, Clear Brook High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 36.24% compared to 29.22% at Clear Lake High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Clear Brook High School has 144 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 5.95% of student population. Clear Lake High School has significantly more ELLs at 213 or about 8.57% of student population.
In addition, Clear Brook High School has 5.50% bilingual students, 13.02% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.40% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Clear Lake High School with 7.44% bilingual students, 16.94% gifted and talented students and 9.13% students in the special education program.
Clear Brook High School's 142 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.1 years. Clear Lake High School's 145 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 11.6 years.
Of its teaching staff, Clear Brook High School has two teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 13 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 50 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 23 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 44 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including ten beginning teachers. Clear Lake High School has four teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 24 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 37 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 38 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 35 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including seven beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Clear Brook High School employs 81 female teachers and 60 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 25 special education teachers are being assisted by 13 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs seven staff members in the school administration department and 17 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Clear Lake High School employs 88 female teachers and 56 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 21 special education teachers are being assisted by 15 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs four staff members in the school administration department and 27 more working as school support staff.
