When we compared Cinco Ranch Junior High School, which is a part of KATY ISD, with T H McDonald Junior High School, which is a part of KATY ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Cinco Ranch Junior High School’s regular student population is 1,423 with a 16 students/teacher ratio. The student population at T H McDonald Junior High School is 1,032 students and a 14.3 students/teacher ratio.
Cinco Ranch Junior High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Cinco Ranch Junior High School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. T H McDonald Junior High School’s only distinction designation is in Post-Secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Cinco Ranch Junior High School. They make up for 35.21% of student population, followed by Hispanics (29.30%), Asians (23.40%), African Americans (8.50%), Two or More Races (3.37%) and Native Americans (0.14%).
The student population at T H McDonald Junior High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 53.49%, followed by African Americans (25.00%), Whites or Caucasians (13.28%), Asians (5.04%), Two or More Races (2.52%) and Native Americans (0.58%).
Based on household incomes, the Cinco Ranch Junior High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 28.74% compared to 71.71% at T H McDonald Junior High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Cinco Ranch Junior High School has 220 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 15.46% of student population.
