A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only six distinction designations or awards for outstanding performance. For Campbell Middle School these are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps while Labay Middle School secured in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Campbell Middle School. They make up for 44.51% of student population, followed by African Americans (36.17%), Asians (8.61%), Whites or Caucasians (6.71%), Two or More Races (2.54%) and Native Americans (1.45%).
The student population at Labay Middle School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 51.17%, followed by African Americans (23.16%), Whites or Caucasians (15.14%), Asians (6.56%), Two or More Races (2.83%) and Native Americans (1.13%).
Based on household incomes, Campbell Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 77.70% compared to 69.31% at Labay Middle School.
