Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Burnett Elementary School, which is a part of PASADENA ISD, with South Belt Elementary School, which is a part of PASADENA ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.

South Belt Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Burnett Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Burnett Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 73.85% of student population, followed by African Americans (14.17%), Asians (4.99%), Whites or Caucasians (4.79%) and Two or More Races (2.20%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at South Belt Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 53.67%, followed by African Americans (18.40%), Asians (16.46%), Whites or Caucasians (9.41%) and Two or More Races (1.38%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Burnett Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 83.43% compared to 55.33% at South Belt Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Burnett Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 33.93% of its student population compared to 12.59% at South Belt Elementary School.
Burnett Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 30.94%, gifted and talented students, 2.79%, while 18.36% are in the special education program. South Belt Elementary School bilingual students comprise 9.13%, gifted and talented students, 1.94%, and 14.66% are in the special education program.
