Schools focus on preparing them for the more rigorous academic grind in high school.

On the other hand, Youngblood Intermediate also earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 71 in student achievement, 81 in school progress, 76 in closing performance gaps and 80 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Budewig Intermediate’s two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Youngblood Intermediate's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Budewig Intermediate. They make up for 46.09% of student population, followed by Hispanics (39.14%), Asians (8.00%), Whites or Caucasians (4.75%), Native Americans (1.32%) and Two or More Races (0.53%).
The student population at Youngblood Intermediate is also predominantly by Hispanics at 50.64%, followed by African Americans (24.91%), Asians (19.35%), Whites or Caucasians (3.71%), Native Americans (0.93%) and Two or More Races (0.46%).
Based on household incomes, the Budewig Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 83.64% compared to 84.13% at Youngblood Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Budewig Intermediate has 473 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 41.60% of student population. Youngblood Intermediate has significantly more ELLs at 523 or about 60.60% of student population.
In addition, Budewig Intermediate has 41.42% bilingual students, 4.49% are in the gifted and talented program, while 15.04% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Youngblood Intermediate with 63.62% bilingual students, 8.69% gifted and talented students and 14.25% students in the special education program.
Budewig Intermediate's 90 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.5 years with individual teaching experience averaging 10.3 years. Teachers at Youngblood Intermediate, numbering 70 teachers, have been serving the school for an average of 10.5 years with individual teaching experience averaging 13.1 years.
Of its teaching staff, Budewig Intermediate has two teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has ten teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 24 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 27 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 26 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including two beginning teachers.
