It is in this area where the two schools differ. Budewig Intermediate’s two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Olle Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Budewig Intermediate. They make up for 46.09% of student population, followed by Hispanics (39.14%), Asians (8.00%), Whites or Caucasians (4.75%), Native Americans (1.32%) and Two or More Races (0.53%).
At Olle Middle School, Hispanics make up 77.49% of student population, followed by African Americans (16.71%), Asians (2.94%), Whites or Caucasians (1.80%), Native Americans (0.85%) and Two or More Races (0.09%).
Based on household incomes, the Budewig Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 83.64% compared to 87.75% at Olle Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Budewig Intermediate has 473 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 41.60% of student population. Olle Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 614 or about 58.31% of student population.
Budewig Intermediate’s bilingual students comprise 41.42%, gifted and talented students, 4.49%, while 15.04% are in the special education program. Olle Middle School bilingual students comprise 58.12%, gifted and talented students, 3.99%, and 9.59% are in the special education program.
