Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Clear Lake Intermediate's two out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies and post-secondary. Brookside Intermediate has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Brookside Intermediate. They make up for 39.05% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (36.40%), Asians (10.48%), African Americans (9.52%), Two or More Races (4.44%) and Native Americans (0.11%).
The student population at Clear Lake Intermediate is also predominantly by Hispanics at 42.28%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (34.13%), African Americans (11.86%), Asians (6.35%), Two or More Races (5.03%) and Native Americans (0.24%).
Based on household incomes, the Brookside Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 43.17% compared to 51.74% at Clear Lake Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Brookside Intermediate has 75 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 7.94% of student population. Clear Lake Intermediate has significantly more ELLs at 101 or about 12.10% of student population.
In addition, Brookside Intermediate has 6.46% bilingual students, 3.81% are in the gifted and talented program, while 16.61% are in the special education program.
