Bridgeland High School’s regular student population is 3,449 with a student-teacher ratio of 16.7 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Jersey Village High School is 3,335 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.5 students/teacher ratio.
Bridgeland High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 94 in student achievement, 86 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Bridgeland High School’s four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Jersey Village High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Bridgeland High School. They make up for 50.65% of student population, followed by Hispanics (22.44%), African Americans (12.35%), Asians (10.35%), Two or More Races (3.57%) and Native Americans (0.46%).
At Jersey Village High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 61.56% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (12.50%), African Americans (11.81%), Asians (11.66%), Two or More Races (1.92%) and Native Americans (0.51%).
Based on household incomes, the Bridgeland High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 17.25% compared to 63.66% at Jersey Village High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Bridgeland High School has 76 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.20% of student population. Jersey Village High School has significantly more ELLs at 431 or about 12.92% of student population.
Bridgeland High School’s bilingual students comprise 1.88%, gifted and talented students, 15.83%, while 6.81% are in the special education program. Jersey Village High School bilingual students comprise 11.96%, gifted and talented students, 8.40%, and 8.94% are in the special education program.
Bridgeland High School's 206 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 9.7 years. Jersey Village High School's 215 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 10.7 years.
