When we compared Bridgeland High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Cypress Creek High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Bridgeland High School’s regular student population is 3,449 with a student-teacher ratio of 16.7 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Cypress Creek High School is 3,263 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.6 students/teacher ratio.
Bridgeland High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 94 in student achievement, 86 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. It scored 96 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Cypress Creek High School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 86 in student achievement, 85 in school progress, 85 in closing performance gaps and 86 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only four distinction designations or awards for outstanding performance. For Bridgeland High School these are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps while Cypress Creek High School secured in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Bridgeland High School. They make up for 50.65% of student population, followed by Hispanics (22.44%), African Americans (12.35%), Asians (10.35%), Two or More Races (3.57%) and Native Americans (0.46%).
The student population at Cypress Creek High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 39.23%, followed by African Americans (27.98%), Whites or Caucasians (20.47%), Asians (9.13%), Two or More Races (2.91%) and Native Americans (0.21%).
Based on household incomes, the Bridgeland High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 17.25% compared to 56.36% at Cypress Creek High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Bridgeland High School has 76 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.20% of student population. Cypress Creek High School has significantly more ELLs at 249 or about 7.63% of student population.
Bridgeland High School’s bilingual students comprise 1.88%, gifted and talented students, 15.83%, while 6.81% are in the special education program. Cypress Creek High School bilingual students comprise 6.93%, gifted and talented students, 5.46%, and 8.83% are in the special education program.
Bridgeland High School's 206 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 9.7 years. Cypress Creek High School's 208 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 10.1 years.
Of its teaching staff, Bridgeland High School has two teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 20 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 64 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 50 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 56 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 16 beginning teachers. Cypress Creek High School has five teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 20 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 61 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 55 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 48 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 20 beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Bridgeland High School employs 133 female teachers and 73 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 16 special education teachers are being assisted by 25 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs 11 staff members in the school administration department and 24 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Cypress Creek High School employs 133 female teachers and 75 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 24 special education teachers are being assisted by 33 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs 11 staff members in the school administration department and 21 more working as school support staff.
