Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Bellaire Elementary School and Gillette Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Bellaire Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 96.04% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (2.20%) and African Americans (1.76%). There is no Asians, Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Gillette Elementary School, Hispanics make up 98.01% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (1.59%) and African Americans (0.40%). There is no Asians, Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Bellaire Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 90.99% compared to 92.64% at Gillette Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Bellaire Elementary School has 93 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 20.44% of student population. Gillette Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 142 or about 28.23% of student population.
In addition, Bellaire Elementary School has 24.62% bilingual students, 2.86% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.31% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Gillette Elementary School with 32.01% bilingual students, 5.57% gifted and talented students and 14.71% students in the special education program.
