Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. The current standards, called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, outline what students should be able to learn and do in each course or grade. When we compared Ault Elementary School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Emmott Elementary School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Ault Elementary School has a regular student population of 961 with a 14.5 students/teacher ratio while Emmott Elementary School has 683 students and a student-teacher ratio of 13.8 students/teacher ratio.
Ault Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 91 in school progress and 94 in closing performance gaps. It scored 93 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Emmott Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 70 in student achievement, 89 in school progress, 77 in closing performance gaps and 85 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Ault Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and post-secondary. Emmott Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Ault Elementary School. They make up for 45.06% of student population, followed by Hispanics (29.55%), African Americans (12.59%), Asians (8.53%), Two or More Races (3.75%) and Native Americans (0.21%).
The student population at Emmott Elementary School is also predominantly by African Americans at 35.43%, followed by Hispanics (33.82%), Whites or Caucasians (15.37%), Two or More Races (6.59%), Asians (6.15%) and Native Americans (1.76%).
Based on household incomes, the Ault Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 37.46% compared to 83.75% at Emmott Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Ault Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 11.86% of its student population compared to 11.27% at Emmott Elementary School.
Ault Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 11.13%, gifted and talented students, 6.66%, while 9.89% are in the special education program. Emmott Elementary School bilingual students comprise 10.54%, gifted and talented students, 1.32%, and 9.66% are in the special education program.
66 teachers employed at Ault Elementary School have been teaching in the school for an average of about 11.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging 14.4 years. The 49 teachers at Emmott Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 6.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging 9 years.
Of its teaching staff, Ault Elementary School has three teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 16 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 20 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 17 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while nine teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including one beginning teacher only.
