Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. The current standards, called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, outline what students should be able to learn and do in each course or grade. When we compared Robison Elementary School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Francone Elementary School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Robison Elementary School has a regular student population of 884 with a 18.5 students/teacher ratio while Francone Elementary School has 813 students and a student-teacher ratio of 13.9 students/teacher ratio.
Robison Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 91 in student achievement, 88 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Robison Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, Science and 25% closing performance gaps. Francone Elementary School’s only distinction designation is in Science.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Robison Elementary School. They make up for 41.52% of student population, followed by Hispanics (33.48%), African Americans (11.54%), Asians (8.26%), Two or More Races (4.30%) and Native Americans (0.34%).
The student population at Francone Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 49.94%, followed by African Americans (38.01%), Whites or Caucasians (5.29%), Two or More Races (3.94%), Asians (2.09%) and Native Americans (0.74%).
Based on household incomes, the Robison Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 42.31% compared to 88.31% at Francone Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Robison Elementary School has 110 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 12.44% of student population. Francone Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 185 or about 22.76% of student population.
Robison Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 11.54%, gifted and talented students, 4.30%, while 13.57% are in the special education program. Francone Elementary School bilingual students comprise 21.89%, gifted and talented students, 0.86%, and 12.42% are in the special education program.

The 58 teachers at Francone Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 6.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging 9.1 years.

In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Robison Elementary School has an all-female teaching staff. At Francone Elementary School there are 54 female teachers and four male teachers. Of its teaching staff, six special education teachers are being assisted by 20 teachers aides or paraprofessionals.
