Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Aragon Middle School’s two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Arnold Middle School's seven out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Aragon Middle School. They make up for 42.72% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (27.42%), African Americans (16.49%), Asians (10.06%), Two or More Races (2.75%) and Native Americans (0.31%).
The student population at Arnold Middle School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 43.42%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (23.59%), African Americans (21.71%), Asians (7.38%), Two or More Races (2.64%) and Native Americans (1.18%).
Based on household incomes, the Aragon Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 42.97% compared to 65.48% at Arnold Middle School.
