When we compared Cy-Fair High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Cypress Ranch High School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Cy-Fair High School’s regular student population is 3,287 with a student-teacher ratio of 15.4 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Cypress Ranch High School is 3,548 students and a student-teacher ratio of 16 students/teacher ratio.
Cy-Fair High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 90 in student achievement, 85 in school progress and 83 in closing performance gaps. It scored 88 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Cypress Ranch High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 93 in student achievement, 85 in school progress, 100 in closing performance gaps and 95 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Cypress Ranch High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Social Studies, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Cy-Fair High School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Cy-Fair High School. They make up for 36.26% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (35.56%), African Americans (15.42%), Asians (8.76%), Two or More Races (3.47%) and Native Americans (0.43%).
The student population at Cypress Ranch High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 32.69%, followed by Hispanics (27.40%), Asians (18.80%), African Americans (16.83%), Two or More Races (3.66%) and Native Americans (0.45%).
Based on household incomes, Cy-Fair High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 41.77% compared to 28.86% at Cypress Ranch High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Cy-Fair High School has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 4.93% of its student population compared to 4.28% at Cypress Ranch High School.
In addition, Cy-Fair High School has 4.56% bilingual students, 9.49% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.79% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Cypress Ranch High School with 4.03% bilingual students, 12.82% gifted and talented students and 6.45% students in the special education program.
Cy-Fair High School's 213 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 9.3 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12 years. Cypress Ranch High School's 222 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 10.5 years.
Of its teaching staff, Cy-Fair High School has seven teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 36 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 58 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 57 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 44 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including ten beginning teachers. Cypress Ranch High School has three teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 25 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 60 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 63 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 64 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including seven beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Cy-Fair High School employs 143 female teachers and 69 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 21 special education teachers are being assisted by 40 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs 11 staff members in the school administration department and 24 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Cypress Ranch High School employs 138 female teachers and 83 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 20 special education teachers are being assisted by 28 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs nine staff members in the school administration department and 22 more working as school support staff.
