Luca In The Woodlands
AM Restaurants, Inc. has announced plans to open two new upscale restaurants at 20 Waterway Avenue in The Woodlands Waterway Square District, according to Dan Leverett, vice president commercial for The Woodlands Development Company. La Guadalupana Mexican Cuisine & Bar and Luca & Leonardo Ristorante will soon be under construction with a December opening planned. Both restaurants will overlook the Fountains at Waterway Square, a public plaza with multiple water features.

La Guadalupana will feature a lower level outdoor terrace in addition to 140-160 seats indoors. The menu will include a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes, including meat, chicken and seafood specialties in addition to tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, fajitas, salads, appetizers and desserts. One of the highlights of the new restaurant will be a Tequila “museum” with 200 types of tequila, and “the best Margarita in town”, according to principal Bill Trainor. Tortillas will be made on-site, and the salsa will be made at each table according to the guests’ taste. The restaurant will stay open late on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights when live music will be featured.

Luca & Leonardo Ristorante will have seating for about 140 people, with a terrace overlooking The Woodlands Waterway®. A selection of great wines and a menu including pasta and risotto dishes, soups, salads, pizza, meat, fish and chicken entrees, appetizers and desserts will be featured.

With the addition of these two new restaurants, 20 Waterway Avenue will be 90% occupied. The building is also home to Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and Crush Wine Lounge.

This is the first step in AM Restaurants’ expansion into the Houston, San Antonio and Dallas markets, according to Trainor. The group has 12 restaurants in Mexico, including locations in Cancun, Monterrey and Guernavaca.
