Burger Friday: Vic & Anthony's

It's Friday, which means that somewhere within the District Attorney's downtown office building, prosecutors are craving red meat and making ritual plans to lunch on burgers at Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse.

Friday's the only day that V&A opens for lunch, which is served straight through to the dinner hour. More to the point, Friday's the only day when chef Carlos Rodriguez's big bad burger--a lush mix of specially ground chuck that's 25% fat and 75% lean--is served in the dining room rather than just in the cocktail lounge, where it's usually available. Let's take a look.

The "Anthony" blue-cheese burger at Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse.

*PRICE: $11.95 for either the "Vic" (bacon & cheese) or "Anthony" (blue cheese) burger, which comes with steak fries.

*ORDERING: Reserve a table, or walk in and try your luck in either the bar, the ornate dining room or at the long, comfortable counter in front of the open kitchen, which is (to my mind) the best seat in the house. A waiter will take your order.
