Top Ten Staging Tips - #1
The #1 staging tip I can give you is
DE-CLUTTER! Staging a home to sell is not the same as decorating a home to live in. It is vital to de-clutter.
For instance, do you use that standing mixer every day? I doubt it. Put it in a cabinet while you are marketing your home and pull it out when you use it. Remove from your kitchen counters any thing you do not use every day. If you do think you use it every day then, take the ones that are easiest to move and just put them in a cabinet and bring it out when you need it. The point is to show as much counter space as possible because the buyers are looking for prep space.
The same goes for your bathroom counters. Do you have to have all of your grooming supplies out? Find a drawer or a basket or a cabinet to put them in and bring them out when you use them and put them back when you are done. It is OK to leave a few things on the counter but, again, the buyer is looking for counter space so they can "see" their things sitting there and not yours.
Do you want all of your counter space "naked?" No. However, if you have that much empty counter space, then please get an attractive bowl and fill it with lemons and limes or green apples - how appealing! Or, get an attractive dish or glass container and fill it with pretty soaps for the bathroom counter. Let's be honest - it looks much nicer than your old toothbrush.
The small inconvenience this is can make youir home much more appealing to the buyer and, hopefully, pay off with a faster sale.
You can do this. Write if you have questions.
