Is NOW a Good Time to Buy?

Wow, the holidays are upon us.  Most folks are preparing for the hustle and bustle that follows this time of year.  And many others are settling down for a long winter's nap...when it comes to real estate buying that is.

Sellers who still reside in the home that needs to sell, understandably don't want to be interrupted during the holidays.  I'm sure there is also a little fear there about the safety of the gifts they have been busy buying.  They may even think it's not worth it because there is a shortage of buyers during the holidays.

Buyers are busy with their own holiday craze and put off home buying until the beginning of the year.  They see sellers take their homes off of the market and decide that tax time is just around the corner so why not wait until then.

The truth is, this could be the BEST time of year to buy!  Yes, you heard me right!  The tax credit has been extended and includes not only first time homebuyers, but also current homeonwers who have been in their home for 5 of the last 8 years, yay!  There are still buyers out there that dream of being in a new home by the time the holidays roll around.  Because there is a lack of buyers during the holidays, that means less competition for you when you find your "perfect" home!

From what I have seen, those sellers that choose to keep their homes on the market during the holiday season, are truly motivated sellers and NEED to sell.  This could provide for some great deals for those end of the year buyers.  I mentioned tax season being right around the corner, but end of the tax year for most of us is right around the corner also.  When you purchase a home, there is generally a tremendous amount of tax write-offs for the year you purchase that come along with it (consult a tax advisor for the most accurate information in regards to tax write-offs).

Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today!  As always, we are only a phone call, text, email or twitter away.  For expert representation with your Real Estate purchases, schedule your consultation with us today!
