Kirby Construction North of 59

Kirby is looking pretty good north of 59. Trees on either side of the street have been planted and apparently more are to come for the center median. I am greatly appreciating the wider lanes (although I did hate to see our mature oaks go). I feel much safer on the road and the "suicide lane" for turning left is mostly divided my median so it's safer as well.  Today men are working on the new street light at Kirby and Kipling. New, like this is the first time the street has had a light. The city is ready for that huge Gables development but so far it's rather unoccupied and not drawing any crows or even drawing a trickle. We'll have to wait and see.  The other street lights will be new as well but just replaced - without the wires trailing overhead.  No more power lines! The buried wires are the biggest improvement of the area and I like the brick accents at some on the intersections. Still Uptown Park was developed nicer - beautiful landscaping, seasonal flowers, chrome street lights and illuminated street signs. The Upper Kirby District should have the funds to match the lovely Uptown Park District!
