Last night CFISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve construction of Elementary School #53 to be built in Bridgeland and opened for the 2013-14 school year. Currently Warner Elementary has a student enrollment of 1394. This campus was designed to accommodate 1100. For 2012-13, enrollment will easily be at over 1500, and since neighboring elementary schools are already at capacity, re-zoning is not an option for Bridgeland students. So next year it’ll be a tight squeeze at Warner, but by 2013 (and after a three year delay), we’ll finally have our first school built in Bridgeland. They also approved the construction of Elementary School #54 to open 2014-15 at a newly donated school site in Canyons Lake West. This school will relieve overcrowding at Andre, Rennell, and Postma. And they approved construction of Middle School #18 to be built adjacent to Rennell Elementary School in Towne Lake. This new middle school will also open in 2014-15 to relieve the overcrowding at Smith Middle School- and this is great news since Bridgeland students are zoned to Smith.
