What Your Realtor Won’t Tell You!

The first thing a Realtor does when he walks into your house is to smell it because if it smells the selling price will be lower. The next thing looked at is dirt because if it is dirty the selling price will be lower. Unless your Realtor is very brave, appallingly honest or is really working in your best interests he will not say anything because you would kick him out! Remember you can’t smell it because you live there. The way to get an honest opinion of smell is to ask a little kid, that doesn’t live there, what your house smells like. The best answer would be vanilla cookie since a survey shows that 75% of adult Americans associate that smell with home. If you smoke, have pets, use floral scents, or cook ethnic foods your house probably smells to most people. The quick fix is to air your home out, clean it toughly, wash the pets, and quit smoking in the house or cooking with smelly ingredients. You may also have to have the drapes, upholstery, bedding and carpet cleaned but Febreze will work wonders! If your home can’t pass the white glove test including the appliances have it cleaned and keep it spotless. Wipe down the bath fixtures and kitchen every time before you leave. If you can’t clean it or don’t have the time hire a maid service to clean it at least once. The money you spend will really pay off in a faster sale.
