What's the dirt?

"After the first four years, the dirt doesn't get any worse."
Quentin Crisp, The Naked Civil Servant, 1968

Well, I'm sure Mr. Crisp had his reasons for that quote, but I must disagree.  When trying to sell a home, you must make sure it's clean.  No one wants to look at or buy a dirty home.
If this requires hiring professional help, please do so.  Also, please remember the outside as well as the inside.  Go out of the house and come back in with the mind of a buyer.  Do you need to power wash the front of the house?  Are there cobwebs by the front door?  Are the windows clean?
Once you are inside the home remember to check things such as baseboards for dust and dirt as well as the ceilings for cobwebs.  Those spiders are very fast workers.  :)  This does not require a white glove test, but it does require a keen eye.
If you don't find it, the buyer surely will.
