As a native Galvestonian (BOI) Born on the island has always been a special place for me. After graduating, from Ball High School, I went to work for The San Luis Resort as the Condominium Concierge. While being a great opportunity to meet many interesting people who visit the Island such as Vice President Al Gore, Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, Francis Newman Moody, Ruth Harris Kempner and Mr. and Mrs. Hershey (chocolate) six generation descendants from Pennsylvania, I went off to Pharmacy school in South Dakota. Then I went to work for Rapid Regional Hospital Pharmacy and Pharmerica. While expanding my knowledge of Medicines I still yearn to be back home in Galveston, an island with its rich and colorful history. The next 15 years were very busy for me while filling prescriptions at Walmart Pharmacy at the same time I took on a Management position with ABL Management. During this busy period I began to invest in my future with real estate which peeked my interest. Now as a Realtor I am able to pursue my passion for real estate and customer service in facilitating your buying and selling experience in a professional environment. Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent? There is nothing better than a satisfied client. Real estate is one of those professions where you know whether or not you've made a difference for someone right away. I enjoy introducing our coastal area to new residents and visitors, and I love helping people fulfill a dream.

What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional? Expectations. They are rarely in line with the realities of the market. There is so much media coverage on real estate these days. And all too often, the stories are irrelevant to the buyers/sellers in my area. Real estate markets are local in nature. I provide my clients with news and local market statistics that pertain to them.

Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession. The years following Hurricane Ike were interesting to say the least. It was the first time a storm of that magnitude with that kind of destruction hit the island since 1900. At the same time, the mortgage industry imploded with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, and the country was in the early stages of a recession. What followed was a very unpredictable market for several years. It was an experience I don't think I will ever forget.

Becki Fitzgerald has lived in the Brazoria County and Galveston County area for more than 35 years. After purchasing her first home, Becki realized she wanted to help others through the experience. She took the leap of faith from the typical 9 to 5 job and jumped feet first into real estate. After obtaining her real estate license in 2016, Becki went to work for a local real estate firm.
