A fourth generation Texan, Walter (Lane) grew up in Baytown and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin. He is also a Certified Public Accountant, and he is retired from Amegy Bank of Texas. In the financial services and real estate industry for 49 years, Lane joined Fort Bend Federal Savings & Loan Association in 1978 and served as Financial Vice President, Executive Vice President, and President and Chief Operating Officer.
