/Nothing can be more annoying than running into a pothole in the city streets. I recently had a problem with the same pothole each time I was driving home. I decided to report the problem with the city of Houston 311. If you live in the City of Houston, one resource you might want to be familiar with is the 311 website: http://houstontx.gov/311/. Here you can report problems that you come across. The top ten reportable problems reported this month were: water leak, nuisance on property, sewer wastewater, garbage container problem, missed garbage pickup, water service, traffic signal maintenance, missed heavy trash pickup, street hazard, and dead animal collection. There is a Submit a Service Request Portal option in the middle of the page. Right below this option for the Portal, there is a video you can watch on how to use it. It was easy to do. I clicked on the Pothole option on the left side of the screen. It immediately prompted me to an automated chat on the right-hand side of the screen. The questions were easy to answer. Remember to have the address of the location of the pothole. You even have the option to submit the problem anonymously. After you complete all the questions, you will be given a case number. You can use this case number to go back and look up the status of the problem you submitted. After submitting my request to fix the pothole, I was impressed to see it patched the next day. I decided to report five additional potholes in my neighborhood.I have submitted 6 pothole problems between two streets in the Heights near where I live. All the potholes were patched up within 24 hours. These nuisance potholes are just a memory. Thank you, Mayor Sylvester Turner, for your efforts in making this happen. Check out the pothole tracker as well: https://www.houstonpotholes.org to see the documentation of potholes fixed by the city of Houston. If more people can help report these potholes, our city streets would be far less annoying to drive on. Not to mention, less damaging for our cars. It only takes 5 minutes to report online. Now that you know how to report a pothole, spread the word, let's do this together!
