What should I do with my dog?

It seems like every household has a pet, or 2, maybe 3.   This is a tough spot for the family that is trying to sell their home and their realtor....no one wants to say this but here it is....any pet in the home for a showing is not the best option.   Buyers are looking carefully and any pet can be distracting, even when they are gated into a laundry room or bathroom and, don't forget they are barking the whole time---strangers are in their home and their parents are not there to calm them down.   Having said all that---pets are like our children and have to be considered in the selling process.  Options might be, neighbors going to get them for showings if homeowners both work........or taking them with you for the showings if there is a stay at home person.  If all else fails, if keeping them inside the home is the ONLY option be sure they are bathed, gated into an area that looks clean and bright, and leave a basket of treats by the flyers near the door and ask the realtor/buyers to give a treat to "Rover' and he will calm down quickly.   Pets will affect a showing, review your options carefully...then pick the best one.
