This presentation is centered around clarification of the definitions assigned to names by TREC and how the names we use in our business can or cannot be used in our advertisements. TREC rules about names and advertising have been rewritten into two separate rules with a view of providing more clarity to license holders. There is now one rule having to do with names, including some additional and new definitions of names, and there is another rule having to do with advertising. We will explain everything. We will provide realistic and practical situations to help license holders recognize what is compliant and what is not. We will address and answer some frequently asked questions. We will provide some insight as to why TREC has set these new rules. We will show you the steps to be taken to keep TREC advised of names and teams, how the rules are enforced, update you on what needs to be reported by a sponsoring broker and what needs to be reported by a license holder. Finally, we’ll go over some penalty options for non-compliance.
