Be careful and be alert!

A residence in the 3400 block of Wickersham was burglarized at 04:45am this morning. The suspect(s) gained entry by forcing open the kitchen door. Personal items were taken from the kitchen counter during the burglary. The resident was home at the time of the burglary and the alarm system was activated. The resident instinctively turned off the alarm when the activation occurred. The resident never saw the suspect(s) so no description is currently available.

It is recommended that should an alarm activation occur and the cause is unknown, let the alarm continue to ring in order that the activation process may be completed. Further, all residents should verify that their alarm systems are properly communicating with their designated monitoring stations.
