HCAD Property Valuation and Protest

You can start expecting your Harris County Appraisal District notice of real property valuation in April. HCAD says that the value of many properties will decrease in 2010 but we all know to get ready to protest! You can either protest in person or online through HCAD's iFile system which has been in operation for a two years now I believe. I personally used the iFile system last year and it worked marvelously. Although I had a clear case as the home I purchased had a sale price significantly lower than HCAD valued it. I just submitted my lower sale price as my proposed accurate value and it was approved. It was an easy 5 minute process. You may try the iFile system. It worked for me!
