Rice Military's Permit Parking



As developement continues on Washington, traffic and parking problems in Rice Military are on the rise. The neighbors forming the Rice Military Civic Association have approached the city wth a plan for parking permits on select streets. Here are the preliminary recommendations for the parking restrictions by the Traffic Engineer for the Rice Military permit parking application:

800 Lester – 18’ wide street: too narrow

900 Lester EAST ONLY – 19’ wide street: south of Driveway only

700-800 Reinerman – 700 No objection

– 800 North half of west side is not developed and

cannot be designated as permit parking

900 Reinerman WEST ONLY – No, commercial property, cannot be designated as

permit parking

600-700 Roy – Under review

900 Roy – Under review

600 Sandman WEST ONLY – Under review

700-800 Sandman – 700 east side; north half of block and west side south

half of block

– 800 15’ wide street, no parking

5000-5400 Lillian – 5000 Remove landscaping boulders

– 5100 17’ wide – north side only – can place no parking

on opposite side

– 5200 south side only – can place no parking on

opposite side

– 5300 south side only – can place no parking on

opposite side

– 5400 south side only – can place no parking on

opposite side

5000-5100 Floyd – 5000 South side only –no place to park on north side

– 5100 No roadway too narrow and steep open ditches

not conducive to parking. Would consider making no parking.

4900-5000 Rose – 4900 No objection

– 5000 No objection

5100 Rose NORTH ONLY – No objection

5200 Rose – No objection

In general, it is traffic’s recommendation that any area not allowed for the RPP and not commercial should be considered for no parking along the roadway.
