16th February - A Valentine's Presidents' Day

After this Valentine's Day weekend, we have had yet another public holiday today, affectionately named, Presidents' Day. It was originally to honour the first US President, George Washington, but it's now more embracing. I'm sure every President since would have dearly loved that a special day be named after him, but sadly for the public who get to take these days off, such romantic notions remain unrequited. (FYI, Obama is the 44th).

The UK doesn't cherish it's Prime Ministers with the same infatuation (not at all in fact!) though there is a ground swell of desire for Winston Churchill to be more adored by a celebration of his birthday (30th November). No other PMs were as beloved or admired so it's unlikely any time soon that we will be courted by suitors for a PMs Day in the UK.

So, here's a picture of a red rose, kissed by two Martini cocktails and from a room with a view (The Houston Club). Who'd have thought that Houston could be such a beautiful city. But when the sun goes down and you're that high off the ground, even I can be a secret admirer
