Houston’s most affordable neighborhoods to buy a house
The average price for a home in Houston has increased by nearly $94,000 over the past decade.
In 2004, the average price for a Houston home was $175,800. Today, that price has increased more than 50 percent to $269,440, according to data from the Houston Association of Realtors and the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
In recent years, home prices have skyrocketed in Houston, squeezing out first-time homebuyers and triggering fears of a possible housing bubble.
However, affordable homes still can be found in Houston, if you know where to look. Most of these neighborhoods are in the northeast and southeast parts of town, although there are a couple scattered across the city.
